U.S. women to host Canada in volleyball friendly at JSerra High – Orange County Register

When Team USA hosts Canada in an international volleyball match at JSerra Catholic High School (7 p.m.) there won’t be a lot of familiar faces wearing red, white and blue.

The first year of a four-year cycle that will conclude with 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo is about recharging and discovery for the U.S. While the 14 players on the roster for the Canada match are light on national team experience, the international friendly and the Pan American Cup later this month in Lima, Peru give U.S. coach Karch Kiraly an early opportunity to identify players who might have the game and staying power to hitch a ride to Tokyo.
