Glam Media gets quietly scooped up after spectacular fall


Glam Media is getting resurrected.

The defunct ad network, which later renamed itself as Mode Media before abruptly shut down last September, was one of the most spectacular deaths of a unicorn – a digital company that was once valued at more than $1 billion.

Hubert Burda Media had declined to put any more money into Mode, where Burda had emerged as one of the biggest shareholders, forcing out the company founders and firing hundreds of employees.

Now a small bridal Web site, BrideClick, revealed it quietly purchased the assets earlier this year at auction and plans to broaden its own offerings into a new women’s lifestyle site focusing on six categories and operating under the Glam name.
